"In Chinese, we say tea washes the spirit. It’s not something that just enters your stomach, it also enters your mind” - Patrick Cui
Tea tasting is a very exciting and pleasurable experience, so there is no need for the fancy tools, leave those for us, we just need your taste buds!
Here is why we think of tea tasting this way:
Every person has his/her preference when it comes to anything in the world, and tea is one of them, in order for you to find the kind of tea that suits you best you need first to figure out if you love a solo tea tasting or one with friends or family. This is really important as it affects your tea tasting experience completely. For some tea is personal; that is why you see many people enjoying a cup of tea alone at home and at a certain time, and some enjoy it in the afternoon outing with friends and loved ones.
Anyway, since we covered the first most important part, let us move to how we can do a proper tea tasting.
Check the tea leaves, look at them carefully, examine them!
What do you think? How do they look like? Are they rolled or twisted?
Do they vary in color? What colors do you see?
What are its size?
Touch them, let you fingers talk to you, what do you feel? Are they soft?
Now smell it, describe the smell.
Finally, when you brew it, make sure you pour the tea in a white or glass tea cup so you can see the real color.
And Enjoy!
